CGeomap is an interactive audiovisual experience on the go with your mobile device, autoplaying audiovisual content via GPS or QR codes indoors. CGeomap is simultaneously an immersion into geolocated places on your desktop with a digital map containing sounds, videos, images, texts and links, in the format of a gps triggered walk, an interactive multimedia map or as a geolocated game. CGeomap functions with an easy to use drag and drop online editor and a user friendly and intuitive web app.
You start editing in a matter of minutes. No technological knowledge is required. The entire creation process is done online by dragging and combining blocks in a simple interface. CGeomap has unique features, allowing working together simultaneously with remote co-creators or groups and combining diverse audiovisual contents in each location, resulting in a true geolocated multimedia experience, immediately accessible for any user around the world on desktop and in the location on mobile device
CGeomap has a journey of more than a decade with the experience and combined practice of groundbreaking pioneers and leading experts in this 21st century technology, delving deep into the creative potentials of Locative Media. CGeomap is a resilient, stable and proven platform, and is used by visual artists, sound designers, media makers, musicians, writers, poets, journalists, historians, policy makers, social workers, ecologists, by municipalities, (smart) cities, nature organizations, cultural institutions, museums, schools, libraries and universities ( see projects map ). CGeomap offers online courses and workshops on the measure of your project, both for beginners and for advanced creators, featured on our website Supercluster.eu.
CGeomap is free for the end user, but it has a cost for the creator. Each project is custom designed based on your requirements, check the resources page. Pricing and plans are available for individual and small projects up to globally and complex initiatives. Ask for a demo if you want to know more or participate in one of our regular online locative media games and advanced courses in partnership with Supercluster.eu.
CGeomap origins go as far back as to 2014 as a collaboration between the Escoitar collective and the GPS Museum Lab. Horacio González from the Escoitar collective, pioneering in locative sound since 2006, is the master programmer of the pilot version of CGeomap (v.1). Fred Adam and Verónica Perales, founders of the GPS Museum Lab and members of the Transnational Temps Arts collective are the co-creators of CGeomap's original project.
In 2019, migrating biker and magician programmer Jacques Bigot joined the team and reprogrammed CGeomap to its roots and its actual Vv.2 framework over the two years to follow. Geert Vermeire, walking artist, writer, curator, co-founder of the Milena principle, and collaborator of the noTours locative sound platform became as well part of the team in 2019, introducing CGeomap to a large and worldwide community of artists and creators. The original source code of CGeomap (v.1), based on the open source content manager system SPIP, is available for all interested on Github. All the content created on CGeomap is under Creative Commons Licence. CGeomap is very much concerned about the sustainability and preservation of locative media content, and provides on demand the download of the locative contents of each project in a zipped file for the long term preservation and possible later transfer of the project to future technologies (thanks to Super Charly!).
